My Biggest Fear

So as of right now there are so many fun and fabulous things that Rafe can do:
He can - say hi, no, don't, mom (of course) dad, kaka, woah, occasionally he will say shoes and cheese, and he tries to say thanks but its just a cute little sounds he makes. This past weekend he started staying Ahhbree. One of my twin little sister's name is Aubree. So i told her he was saying her name and it made her day. A funny little sorry about that. I wanted to show Aubree so I told Rafe to say it and he did... He is quite the little performer =) then I asked him to say Auty (for Autum) and he didn't say anything. Then I asked him to say Brooke - which is my other sister's name and he said KAKA!!! HA HA HA we all laughed so hard. Good times. He can also do the signs for "more" and "all done"! and they are awesome because he knows how to use them and it makes communication for us much much better!

So yesterday at church (9:00 AM church that is! Does anyone know how difficult it is to go to 9:00 church with kids? It's a freakin JOKE! - ) anyway so while we were sitting out in the foyer area Rafe found a new friend. Riley who is 3 and as cute as a button. They were having a blast. Rafe plays up for his age really well, he gets bored with kids his age and younger pretty fast. This Riley character was so great and keeping Rafe so so SOOO entertained. Well there is this stupid totally useless set of stairs that the kids love to play on. The only problem? Riley can go down the stairs facing forward and Rafe can not. I repeat - CAN NOT! He isn't balanced enough, isn't tall enough to reach the bannister, and just doesn't have the leg strength. Low and behold - today I was folding his laundry when I heard the most sickening gut wrenching sound in the whole world. I heard my baby fall all the way down our stairs - only making sounds when the wind was knocked out of him as he landed on another stair. I was franticly screaming his name at the first loud thud I heard but I didn't see him until he was plummeting toward the ground at the bottom of our stairs. Thankfully he only cried for a very brief moment then he reached for Crey which was awesome because he is such a Mama's boy that it was nice to see he really just wanted his dad. The funny thing about Rafe falling down the stairs is I had a terrible feeling like I knew it was coming... I didn't want it to and I was really dreading it but now that it's over with... hopefully I feel a little more at ease when he is on or by the stairs. I really hope he learned his lesson and he doesn't attempt it again.

Grand Targhee!!!!!

It's Tradition!

Every year for the MLK weekend Crey's entire family goes up to Grand Targhee and skis all weekend long! It is always a vacation we look forward to! This year just for kicks I put Rafe on skis and took him on a run. He surprisingly liked it and played with the skis in our room for quite some time after his first ski debut. I think he will be a great skiier! It's just in his blood.

-As far as resolutions go I have done pretty darn good. I didn't blog last week but - I really think I will get better. As I am blogging right now Rafe is standing up on my computer desk patting my computer. It's not safe, it's not practical, and it's not a smart idea. But sometimes as a parent you just do things in order to get things accomplished! This is one of those times.

We purchased a new mattress yesterday from Knight Mattresses. They are going out of business so we got a killer deal. We have been sleeping on my old mattress since I was in Jr. High. It was high time for a new one! We debated over upsizing to a king but decided to stick with a queen. I am generally pretty dang excited to go to bed at night. Rafe just wears me out - but tonight- I am literally counting the minutes until I get to go melt into my new mattress. It will be heavenly!
Goodbye until next week!

Hello 2011!!!

Well that year flew by! I can't believe it's already 2011. Where did the time go?

Well I have decided to make a few
New
Years
Resolutions!
1. Blog once a week. If this is going to be my journal I need to give it a little more TLC.
2. Shave my legs as often as possible - until I can afford Laser Hair Removal. I know this one is gross and weird but it's for Crey (obviously) and I actually take my Resolutions very seriously.
3. Deep Clean/ Organize one thing or part of my house a week.
4. Shoot more in film.
5. Shoot more in general.
6. Cook 3 good dinners a week. This may sound pathetic to some - I would much rather bake then cook but I am really going to try to make better home cooked meals.
7. Keep my car clean.
8. Read my Scriptures with Crey more. We read them separately but I think it would be more fun to read them together.
9. Go to bed at the same time as Crey. He is really a night owl... I mean really.... He often stays up until 2 or 3 AM doing work stuff, so those nights can't count but other than that I think this would be a really fun and positive thing for us.
10. I want to try something new - I heard about this from a friend. Her and her husband set a side 1 hour a night just for the two of them. They can watch a movie, read, or just chat. I love this idea. So I will inform Crey of this later.

BaBy RaFe!

Hello Blog World - I am so sorry I have neglected you for 9 long months now. It's just... well if you met my baby you would understand that he doesn't rest. He is so crazy wild and busy I am lucky to sneak a shower in the day. HONESTLY!!! I love my little guy to pieces but man he keeps me on my toes. So here is the story of Rafe being born -

Where to begin. I guess it all started the Wednesday before my due date so on December 2nd I went with my mom up to Logan to do some Christmas shopping. We were joking in the car about me going into labor that day but we both knew it would never happen. Well we were driving home and my back started to hurt really really bad, so I told my mom and she started to drive a little faster just in case. Well then I started to feel contractions in the front along with the pain in my back, it was not a pleasant combination. So we got to my parents house in Ogden and Crey met us there and he rushed me up to the hospital which is also located in Ogden. Well they had me change into a robe and then checked me to see if I was dilated and in labor. I wasn't... they told me I was just in early labor and to go and walk around for a bit. I could barely breathe at this point because the pain was so bad. So me and Crey walked around for an hour and I didn't make any progress so they sent us home. Well that following monday the pain doubled. It got so bad I literally couldn't walk. So again, Crey rushed me up to the hospital because of the pain in my back. Well the nurse we had was AWFUL! she was so mean to me and at one point I heard her tell another nurse outside of my curtain that she was going to give me a Loritab to get rid of me. I was literally grasping for air and sobbing at this point because of the pain. She was a terrible nurse to say the least. So she prescribed me some Ambien to help me sleep but forgot to approve the generic version on the medicine so when I got to the pharmacy they couldn't fill the prescription or do anything for me. Well that night was the longest most painful night of my life. Neither me nor Crey slept a wink because I was in so much pain. So when my Dr.'s office opened I called them immediately and explained the type of pain and amount of pain that I was enduring and they told me to come to their office immediately so we did.

Once I got to my Dr.'s office they took one look at me and told me to go back to Labor and Delivery because there was something else wrong, it wasn't just early labor. So we drove to the hospital but I didn't want to go into labor and delivery for the 3rd time just to be sent home. Crey finally talked me into going in the hospital so we did the whole procedure again. This time when my nurse took one look at me she knew something was wrong. She immediately gave me some pain medication through an IV and I dilated from a 1 to a 3 in less than 5 minutes. They told my Dr. this and decided to do some tests on my kidneys. Come to find out, I was suffering from hydronephrosis which basically means because he was such a big baby he was squishing my kidney's to the point that they couldn't function properly and weren't releasing the toxins like they needed to. So after they discovered this they decided to give me the epidural and get me started. I was so relieved. Before any of this painful back stuff started I was scared to death of getting the epidural, at this point I literally cried tears of joy when they said that I could have one soon.

So they gave me the epidural which was nothing... really... in fact Crey was super impressed because I didn't flinch or anything. So then my "labor" began. Everything was going smooth until my water broke and Rafe's heart started to do all sorts of crazy things. They had to give me oxygen, made me roll over in the bed and then at one point his heart rate was so irregular they had to give me a shot to stop all contractions. It was really scary. So I finally reached a 10 at 9:00 A.M. on December 9th ... my due date. My Dr. walked in and told me pushing can take anywhere from 1 - 3 hours. I looked at the clock on the wall and told Crey he would be here in 27 minutes.... Well I was 2 minutes off. He was born at 9:29 A.M. He weighed 8 lbs 11 oz. He was a big BIG baby! Once he was born they weighed him and cleaned him and Crey cut the umbilical cord and then I held him for the first time! It was awesome. There's not another feeling in the world that compares to holding your first child for the first time.

Then they took me to post partum for the recovery and parenthood began. He had a little jaundice so we had to use heating lights and they found a small heart murmur which scared us to death but they are pretty sure he will just grow out of it. We are super hopeful of that. Then we brought him home and it feels surreal. I love being a mom. It's hard and a lot of work but i LOVE it!

I love LOVE love decorating for the holidays!

Here is a pic of our mantle. Crey's mom gave us Christmas stockings 2 years ago for Christmas. Little did she know at the time we would be welcoming a little one into our family right before Christmas. She just so happened to get 3 stockings instead of just 2. She gave me the red sock that is on the right for baby Rafe. I was so excited!!! I love that it matches ours. All the decorating is done at this time except for the tree. I think Crey wants to get a real one again this year. I enjoyed our real one last year, it smelled delicious. More pics coming soon!

Happy Holidays!!!

7 days
2 hours
48 minutes
46 seconds until baby Rafe hits his due date...

I hope so bad he comes soon!

Happy Birthday the big 24!!!

Crey's Bday! So it was on September 26th and believe it or not it was warm enough to take the boat out one last time. For his bday we kept it pretty stock we went to breakfast at the cracker barrel. It was delicious. Then I gave him a book he was dying to get and I was so sneaky about getting it for him that it was actually a surprise! That never happens! (it was the Glenn Beck arguing with Idiots book) Then we ran to best buy picked him up a few cool gadgets that he wanted snagged a Jamba and went boating. It was a fabulous if I might say so my self =)

This was the sun setting as we were leaving. So beautiful! Then we headed to Crey's parents and snagged some Wingers for everyone and had a fabulous night!
